All the Way

My brown eyes
Will go to the grave

My shadow
Will grow seamless
Without any rough edges

My consonants
Will go there to sleep
My vowels
To escape noon’s blind sun

Even that incredible
Granite scab
With my name so carefully etched
Will sink year by year
Closer to the center of earth
